ACCO Brands is seeking a Category Analyst.  This Category Analyst can be located in either our Sidney, NY, or Kettering, OH office.

 

The Category Analyst will be a key team member in development of category, channel and customer strategies and directly supports a key customer’s initiatives through data and market analysis.  By working with the retailer and internal sales and marketing teams, the Category Analyst will interpret data and market trends to provide actionable insights to customer and ACCO Brands strategies.

 

This role offers the opportunity for you to function as a valued partner by using your strong analytical skills to own and facilitate the internal strategy building process.  This strategic role collaborates with other departments across the matrix and is highly visible with our customers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide actionable insights to the retailer by interpreting market information and data trends.  Deliver fact-based recommendations and reporting for product, price, place and promotion opportunities.
  • Interpret data trends and prepare reporting and analysis to present a clear roadmap for Leadership, Sales and Marketing.  Regularly communicate POS results and next steps to leadership.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on customer presentations by working within retailer and product teams to understand strategy and sales goals; help guide strategy to achieve sales goals and metrics.  Conduct market/retailer/item level analysis as needed to provide the best information without breaking any confidentiality agreements.
  • Develop optimum product mix and POGs by maximizing the velocity of product movement and the productivity of shelf space. Conduct detailed analysis to compare consumer and/or store traits vs. product offered.
  • Contribute to year-round POS meetings for Marketing, Sales Leads and Leadership team.
  • Provide ad-hoc analytical support to retailer, Sales and Marketing.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in some combination of category management, forecasting, inventory management, POS analysis is required.
  • Must have the ability to independently manipulate large amounts of data within all Microsoft Office environments.
  • Consumer product experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with a disciplined approach to managing processes on a day to day basis respecting defined authority levels.
  • Strong customer service skills including effective communication (written and oral).  Must be able to effectively present to both internal and external client groups.
  • Working knowledge of ProSpace (or equivalent software) preferred and ability to understand how to effectively & efficiently transfer data from other sources into ProSpace.
  • Up to 20% travel
  • Candidates preferred from Sidney, NY or Kettering, OH areas.  Relocation assistance will not be offered for this position.
