Position Summary

ACCO Brands, one of the world’s largest suppliers of branded office products, with annual revenues of nearly $2 billion, is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead its Sidney, New York Distribution Center Operations.  This position reports to the Sidney location General Manager.

 

This position will be responsible for managing the operations of the Warehouse activities at the Sidney, NY location by achieving department goals through effective management of their supervisory team, overseeing shipping and receiving functions, inventory control and quality assurance.  The Warehouse Manager identifies, leads and/or coaches projects to improve process, transactional accuracy, systems, safety and expanded employee understanding of inventory handling and control functions.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and lead a strong distribution team that can deliver on business goals and provide customer service. Inspire and motivate team members and develop individual accountability at every level.
  2. Manages all assets within the warehouse that impact the receipt, identification, storage, safeguarding, auditing and issuing of raw and WIP materials and of finished good units.
  3. Provide operational expertise and implement operational practices necessary to support the success of the department. Can identify and resolve operating problems.
  4. Provides direction to supervisors and employees in identifying and implementing improvements in the handling, safeguarding, transacting or identification of inventory. Ensures documentation of existing and revised procedures and development of related training materials.
  5. Continuously develops and implements new leadership tools and methods that help the department become more effective, efficient and customer-focused (both externally and internally).
  6. Ensures the maintenance of an environment in which people are motivated to perform as a team in pursuit of company goals.
  7. Ensures effective communication and decision-making.
  8. Instills a proactive Health and Safety culture through the implementation of the company's objectives and policies and procedures.
  9. Develops budgets and forward-looking investment plans for the warehouse that ensures continued excellent service and performance, while minimizing total capital and operating expenses.
  10. Establishes improved departmental measurements, benchmarks performance, evaluates against targeted performance; monitors performance and assists departmental employees in developing and executing strategies to achieve the targeted performance.
  11. Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operation of Distribution and Warehousing.

 

 

 

 

Position Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of eight years related experience preferred.
  3. SAP experience preferred.
  4. Broad knowledge of many facets of Receiving, Distribution, Warehousing and administrative operations and of specific material control methodologies, along with excellent knowledge of supervisory and management skills and techniques.
  5. Excellent analytical, evaluative, planning, organizational and continuous improvement skills.
  6. Excellent written communication skills. Ability to effectively develop and document justifications, specifications, implementation plans, departmental procedures and policies.
  7. Excellent people management, leadership and team-building skills. Excellent verbal communications skills and techniques.
  8. Computer experience (Microsoft Office, Outlook)
  9. Some travel may be required.
