ACCO Brands is seeking an e-commerce focused Direct Marketing Manager in our Kemper Lakes, IL location. The Direct Marketing Manager is responsible for growing the value of our existing customer relationships in consumer and business markets, centered around various websites. Our existing customers are our greatest asset and the manager will be responsible for increasing the value of each name. From turning prospects into customers, to increasing the frequency of re-orders, to cross-selling on our web sites, you will ensure that our consumers receive the right and best experience to fit their needs and to keep coming back.


This role will be very involved in the growth of ACCO’s direct marketing program. A candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills in concert with the technical skills to drive direct marketing campaigns using database marketing and marketing automation systems. Key performance indicators include customer lifetime value, retention rate, reactivation rate, prospect-to-customer conversion, and universe engagement and activity.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of all marketing campaigns to existing customer and prospect lists, incl. reorder, value-add, cross-sell, reengagement, and reacquisition, incl. revenue performance and spend efficiency vs. targets.
  • Creation and management of a comprehensive data-driven segmentation plan for both consumer and business audiences based on data analysis of product affinities, RFM, lifetime value, churn potential, and ROAS.
  • Management and development of staff, directing its actions and campaigns across multiple channels, including but not limited to direct mail, email, paid social, display and paid search.
  • Ownership of vendor relationships and budgets for direct mail and email, incl. maintaining a regular schedule of RFPs and audits to ensure quality, capability, and cost management.
  • Engage with Merchandising and Creative Departments on web site design strategies encompassing reorder flows, basket size, cross-sell, and loyalty.
  • Coordinate outbound referral, email capture, and prospect conversion campaigns with Acquisition team.
  • Build framework for converting offline customers to online to increase return on ad spend, incl. but not limited to email re-opt-in, web-only promotions, and content-based marketing.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 3-5+ years experience in direct marketing, ecommerce, and marketing automation.
  • Experience in managing direct reports and working within a matrixed reporting structure.
  • Power user in Google Analytics or comparable analytics tool
  • Demonstrable experience in data systems and database marketing. Experience in IBM Watson (aka Silverpop) a plus.
  • Deployment experience in email or marketing automation platforms
  • Experienced in multi-channel, multi-touch direct marketing campaigns, including direct mail, email, social media, display advertising, and retargeting.
  • Prior experience in both B2B and B2C marketing is desired.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to marketing performance and customer trends.
