We are seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst for our Finance department in the corporate headquarters in Lake Zurich, IL. This position is responsible for mastering a complex array of variables related to Direct to Consumer business, and provide financial guidance in the decision making processes to drive growth in these e-commerce and direct mail platforms.

 

Responsibilities:

The role of Senior Finance Analyst in our Direct to Consumer (D2C) business encompasses planning, reporting and analytics in support of e-commerce and direct mail marketing efforts to drive customer retention and acquisition.  This role will also collaborate with the D2C Sales/Marketing team to provide support in four key areas. 

  1. Marketing Tactics Tracking and Performance – Develop and maintain a repository of the marketing tactics (expense) utilized, and their performance (revenue and profit) over time, to provide the D2C team a historical fact base for their tactical and strategic decision processes
  2. Planning and Reporting – This role will have responsibility for a) developing the D2C financial plans, b) reporting performance against those plans and prior year for Sales through Operating Income and c) articulating the key drivers of the variances
  3. Operating Expense Planning and Tracking – Develop and maintain tracking and planning processes for SG&A that demonstrate the relationship between marketing tactics and profitability
  4. General Business Analytics – Provide analytical support the D2C business on an ad hoc basis

 

The individual in this role will be expected to become an expert in the D2C business from a finance perspective, much like a controller.  The key challenges will be to keep the D2C team fully connected to their financial plans, projections and actuals, and help them model the relationships between spending and financial performance.  Finally, this individual will have responsibility for the monthly accounting reviews and reporting to the North American business, and ACCO corporate.

 

Key expectations of this individual include:

  • Build the annual plans for the D2C business and each of the interim forecasts in collaboration with the business teams
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting of actual results versus forecasts and budget, highlighting variances, issues, opportunities and risks
  • Model scenarios of various market spends/tactics to highlight the expect impacts to sales and profitability
  • On a monthly basis analyze accruals, sales and variances to plan and prior year to ensure all entries hahave been appropriately recorded, and highlight errors/adjustments that need to be addressed before closing the books
  • Prepare ad hoc analysis as requested 

 

Position Qualifications

 

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
  • Minmum of five to seven years of relevant financial analysis work experience
  • Previous experience working within a B2B environment preferred
  • High energy

  • Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity
  • Able to  multitask effectively
  • Detail-orientated
  • Strong analytical acumen
  • Effective verbal skills (across departments, organizational levels, and customers)

  • Excels in team environments, but also comfortable working independently
  • Skilled in Microsoft products, including Excel and Word
  • Experience with ORACLE or SAP preferred
