    The Technical Consultant.is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating the technical support aspects and complexities of the 900+ products (including additional inactive and obsolete products), and serving as the lead liaison with product line technical, engineering and sales teams, as well as safety personnel, customers, and other functional areas as needed (including international personnel). Provides appropriate guidance and counsel to variety of internal and external individuals regarding problem resolution, and short-term and strategic plans and recommendations to increase service levels, customer satisfaction and revenue by performing the following duties: 

    • Provides guidance, training, and support to the field technical representatives, dealers, partners, and customers on equipment, parts, applications and processes as well as ensuring the reliability and serviceability of GBC and third party products.
    • Writes, distributes and updates a variety of sources (technical manuals and ad hoc communications) in a timely manner, and responsible for writing and maintaining information and links of the ACCO Brands website, ACCO Tech Partner, GBCConnect, including videos and other media.
    • Writes and maintains updated training manuals on the products currently in the training curriculum, and providing guidance, training, and direction to the filed technical representatives, dealers and partners on equipment as well as ensuring the reliability and serviceability of GBC and third party products.
    • Evaluates and approves Engineering Change Orders prior to their implementation and ensures correct part numbers assigned are appropriate (including but not limited to “out of box” failure during warranty, etc.
    • Key liaison with PGO (Product Generation Organization) with responsibility to provide feedback and recommendations on quality issues on new products. Works with PGO team members on new products to ensure service readiness prior to launch.
    • Investigates and brings in documentation on the new Third Party Equipment as needed to ensure the field is properly supported, and increase Service revenues, and updating and maintaining current documentation related to the product lines.
    • Occasional travel to conduct training and education sessions to internal GBC personnel or dealers, and conducts customer presentations of equipment at trade shows and other company functions, and provides training, direction and consultative services on Third Party Products.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Position Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred
    • 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training in Electronic/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and problem solve in matrixed organization.
    • Excellent technical writing skills, and communication skills (in person and telephone).
    • Professional “presence” and ability to interact with wide variety of individuals.
    • Excellent presentation and training skills.
    • Ability to read and understand electrical circuits, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
